When Paris walked into our office for his appointment he was humble and seemed discouraged. He didn’t seem to know what to expect and was quiet throughout the application process and at the start of his meeting. He had been in unstable housing since the beginning of September and only had 30 days to find another place to stay. Paris was able to land a packaging and shipping job at a large warehouse making a liveable wage but he was in need of work clothes, non-slip shoes, and a way to get to work to keep his job. We were able to provide him with work shirts and pants, as well as shoes and an Express bus pass to get him to his job. Paris also received a backpack which is one of our “kindness items”. These kindness items–such as backpacks, wallets, reading glasses, are donated and offer an added bonus to our clients. When he received his new backpack along with a certificate congratulating him on his new job, his eyes lit up and his smile reflected his appreciation.
“I have been on the right path now working and you have granted me more success from your donations. I am proud to be a part of Small Sums. Without you and them it would have been hard…I really want to thank you! God Bless!”–Paris
