Mark Margolis, Board Chair
An experienced business professional with a passion for social entrepreneurship, Mark Margolis founded his consulting firm Mark Margolis and Associates in 1991. Mark's entrepreneurial philosophy emphasizes experimentation and innovation, and he works to apply these concepts across the nonprofit and corporate sectors.
Mark's nonprofit strategy involves identifying and maximizing assets to develop a dependable income stream through leadership and planning. Mark is a devoted activist who lobbies on behalf of immigrant rights, racial economic equality and affordable housing. He lives with his wife Pamela in Minneapolis.
Dan Goodermont, Vice Chair
For the last 20 years, Dan Goodermont has lent his expertise to various roles within People Serving People, Inc. The Minneapolis-based organization operates a family shelter and offers support to homeless persons. As the group's Integrated Services Manager, Dan administrates programs benefiting homeless individuals through advocacy, education, employment, housing and more. Dan served 10 years in the U.S. Army Reserve as a staff sergeant, and earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from Northwestern College in Roseville, MN.
Tanis Bartholomey, Board Secretary
Tanis is originally from Fargo, North Dakota and received her Bachelor's in Business Education from the University of North Dakota. She began her administrative and accounting career at Pillsbury, and for the past 18 years she has been a bookkeeper for a church daycare center. Tanis also provides support to her husband’s consulting business and has been a school and church volunteer for many years. Tanis and her husband Mark have two daughters and live in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
Randy Zemke, Board Treasurer
Randy Zemke joined At Home Group in 2005, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the for-profit sector, as well as more than 17 years of work in professional accounting. Randy is currently the accountant for the Hotel Ivy.
Prior to his tenure with the At Home Group, Randy was the finance manager of a Minneapolis service company. He also worked as a controller for Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in San Francisco. Randy has a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire.
Rachel Mathison, Member
Rachel Mathison is Program Director of Ascension Place which is transitional housing for women with mental illness, chemical dependency and/or abuse issues in their lives. She has many years of experience working with youth shelters, family shelters and single adult shelters. She also lent her expertise to a permanent supportive housing program for families struggling with mental illness and chemical dependency.
Rachel has volunteered extensively around the metro area for the Minnesota AIDS Project, Ten Thousand Villages, Open Arms of Minnesota and more. Rachel holds a Master's degree in Public Policy from the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute, and she participates in programs offering homeless individuals the opportunity to get involved in policy work. Rachel also serves as a volunteer on At Home Group’s Review Committee.
Brenda Beuning, Member
Brenda Beuning is an Information Technology Manager for C.H. Robinson Worldwide, a Twin Cities based Fortune 500 third party logistics company. Brenda brings a wealth of situation analysis, project management and team leadership to At Home Group, as well as her years of organizational and measured outcome skills to the growing At Home Group outreach.
Brenda holds a strong personal conviction that great change can follow modest but properly placed resources. Brenda is a Minneapolis resident with two grown children.
Jeff Engelsma, Member
Jeff Engelsma joined the At Home Group board in 2006, bringing with him years of experience in both nonprofit board and entrepreneurship experience. Jeff is the President and CEO of Engelsma Construction, Inc. and a member of Camp Heartland's board, where he has served since 1999. He studied Construction Management at Colorado State University, and has over ten years experience in the field of construction. Jeff lives in Edina, Minnesota with his wife Molly and their two young children.
Al Brown, Member
Al Brown is the owner of Applause Music, Inc., and a passionate supporter of economic empowerment and self-sufficiency in the international community. Mr. Brown joined the At Home Group Board in 2007 after being a significant supporter from the organization's beginnings. Al lives in the Twin Cities area with his wife.
Brett Zimowicz, Member
As an advocate for people experiencing homelessness and poverty, Brett Zimowicz seeks to diminish the barriers which stand in the way of individual success. He takes interest in the political and economic mobility of people in poverty. He seeks to reduce the negative influence of race and poverty on people moving forward.
Brett's experience includes service as an employment consultant with Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis from 2001 to 2007 where he offered employment programming directed at personal empowerment through self-advocacy, skill building and access to technology. He is currently the Volunteer Coordinator for Catholic Charities. Brett holds of Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Minnesota.
